A sign in my building

Posted in meow meow on April 26, 2008 by Mitsu

I didn’t take a picture of it, but it’s been there for a while. It’s just referring to an animal by-law in our city, reminding people to scoop the poop, and so forth. Anyways, what never ceases to make me laugh quietly inside, is the following:

4. Cat owners are encouraged to control the activities of their cats. Cats should not roam freely and unsupervised.

I can understand the part about not letting cats roam, but control the activities of their cats? LOL! What kinds of cat activities go on in this building that I don’t know about? Loud cat parties in the middle of the day, when a night worker is trying to sleep?  Cat fights that are so violent, that the cops have to come to deal with the situation? Cats smoking ‘nip? These sound more like the activities of human residents here, not cats! As far as I know, the only activities that my cats partake in, both when we’re home and out, is wrecking our apartment, and wrestling with each other, and it’s all contained to our apartment. I have not had a complaint about loud cat sounds, even when Neko was going through heat. I really think that the city put that line in, cause some dog owner said “We’re not the problem, what about cats? They’re so troublesome, and give dogs a bad name! Deal with the cats and their uncontrolled activities!”  As for cats roaming freely, there is just one family that does let their cat out, just confront them, and that will be solved.  If I controlled the activities of my cats any more, they would need little agenda books with all their planned activities, and it would be like this:

Neko: Priya, want to wrestle and wreck the plants with me, and then hang out at the window?

Priya: Neko, we can’t! Right now, it’s scheduled grooming time! We have wrestling at 3, a 15-minute break, then pigeon watching at 4! It says it right here (points to day book).

Neko: Yeah, yeah, our controlled activities. I can’t wait till music at 5, when Mitsu gets home…I love singing, but I’m so burnt out! I want some free time to just be a cat!

Maneki neko!

I did it! I finally got my maneki neko tattoo, after much deliberation and design changes. I had it done last night, and these pics were taken this morning, so it’s still pretty fresh. The first pic is a close-up of it, and the second one is there, just for proportional reasons. ( I find the first one, where there’s not much of me, makes me look fat, which I’m not)

Anyways, that’s the story of my weekend…Now, I’m up to 3 tattoos and 1 piercing, so no more for me.

Another thing that pisses me off…

It’s in this story…what’s wrong with people these days?

Man charged with cruelty after throwing cat from apartment window
Graham Hughes, The Ottawa Citizen
Published: Thursday, April 17, 2008
OTTAWA – A 19-year-old Ottawa man faces two charges of animal cruelty after a cat was allegedly thrown from a second-storey window of an apartment buildings last month.

Investigators from the Ottawa Humane Society laid the charges after they responded to reports about the incident.
The 11-month-old cat broke its leg when it allegedly bounced off the fire escape before hitting the ground.
The owner of the cat surrendered him to the care of the society because she said she could not afford veterinary treatment for the animal.

The cat, nicknamed Lyle by society staff, had surgery to repair the leg fracture.
Jake Levert made a brief appearance in court on charges of causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal, and failing to provide suitable and adequate care to the same animal.

He is expected back in court in two weeks.
If convicted, he faces a $2,000 fine and/or six months in jail, and a two-year ban on owning animals.
Lyle spent several weeks in foster care while he recovered and was adopted last week.

Meow!

This is sweet, this new WordPress dashboard design! It seems so much more up-to-date and user friendly. I just put this tag up to test it out.

Anyways, this week has to be pretty crazy! We just had a retirement party at work, which I had to organize. Am I ever glad that it’s over! Everyone wanted it to be perfect, and were seriouly stressing me out. When it all worked out, and the guy who we did it for was pleased, I was relieved. He even asked me to burn a copy of the slideshow that I made, the job done.

Well, that’s all for now, I have some other things to take care of…I’ll try to post an update a bit sooner next time.

Kitten, and some more odd search terms.

priya2.jpgHere’s a long-awaited pic of by baby girl, Priya. This was taken a while ago, so she’s no longer that tiny…she’s almost as big as Neko-chan!

I was viewing my stats, and once again, I’ve found some wierd search terms on there. one entry was “web neko communist”. LOL! This is even funnier than the one about the cats wrecking the carpet. I wonder what goes through the minds of the people who google these things…Oh well, I’ve searched some odd stuff as well, I’m sure it’s on someone’s blog stats out there too. Web neko communist, that’s a great one though! I think it will make a good name for a page, or even the title of a story…hmmm, maybe I’ll write one about a communist cat! I have a cat named Neko, and she is a Maoist…he’s all she ever talks about! How cool is that!

Anyways, I should get going for now, I have some stuff to do before I call it a night, and I’m feeling pretty dizzy from the new antidpressant I was placed on last month…I got switched back to my Prozac yesterday, so I’m feeling so shitty cause of the “withdrawal” from the “Effexor”. That has got to be the worst drug ever, the side effects were killing me! The sooner this is out of my system, the better!
