kitteh friendly phone

Posted in meow meow on January 28, 2008 by Mitsu

Yeah, so this weekend, after Hottie had some issues with his phone (I couldn’t reach him all day, and thought he went missing), we both ended up gatting new phones.

We went down to the mall at about 8pm Saturday night, and inquired about getting a phone for him. The sales guy then convinced me to switch companies, since I was bitching about the price of my current plan, and the 400$ disconnect fee. Turns out, he managed to waive that fee for me, and I got a new phone for 50$. Hottie’s phone was free, but I decided to pay a bit more for a nicer one, since I’m a bit of a tech freak. I love the camcorder on this thing! My older phone was one of those walkman types, so the camera was crap.

Anyways, it all comes down to this: My new phone is a lot more kitteh-friendly. It’s not a flip, just a phone that Neko can use easily, and she loves meowing into it whenever I’m using it. It’s all about the kittehs.

Year of the Rat…no Nekos?

Posted in meow meow on January 24, 2008 by Mitsu

maneki-neko.jpgSo, this year will be the year of the Rat… I’m not Chinese, but I still celebrate their New Year.

Anyways, I was just browsing through a few sites, and there are a lot saying that you shouldn’t display Maneki Neko, or Fortune Cat, because it will deter the rat from bringing you good fortune this year. What?! Me, not display a Neko?! I’d have to completely redecorate everywhere! My home, my office, and my car! Hell no!

I’m going to keep displaying my Maneki Nekos this year. They bring me luck, and the cat is my favourite animal (if you haven’t noticed by now). I think we will be fine. Rats are tough little creatures, and they won’t let a cat get in their way. I mean, they might even get along, just like they do in some kids’ shows. Thay would be so kawaii.

a little update

Meow. This is such a quiet day for me. Anyways, the news:

Neko is doing really great after her surgery, I’m surprised at how fast she’s recovering. Her hair’s coming in fast too, she has all this fuzz on her belly. She’s back to her hyperactive self, jumping off walls and all that.

I’ve been doing some more amigurumi lately, I’ll take pics and post it on here. It’s just a great way to pass the time. I’m also knitting something with some funky blue yarn, but I don’t know what it will be yet. Maybe a pillow cover or something. The colour is just really nice!

I have some other topics I’d like to blog about, but I’ll have to save that for later…I can’t really discuss that at work!

Neko’s operation

Posted in meow meow on January 18, 2008 by Mitsu

We had it done. Neko is now fixed. We had her spayed yesterday, and she seems to be fine. The vet and her assistants were really nice people, and Neko was given really good care. I like the fact that they put the sutures under the skin, so that she can’t pick at them. It’s just a tiny little cut, maybe about 2cm. I was more upset at the fact that one of her nipples was nicked when they shaved her belly, and now it’s all bloody, and she can’t stop licking it… Oh well, it could have been worse. Once her hair grows back, then everything will be fine. Speaking of hair, it’s cool how her skin has the calico markings; both black and pink. They put her under general anesthesia for the procedure, and gave her painkillers for afterwards. She’s still drugged out this morning, her pupils are dilated, and don’t look like regular “cat eyes” when you shine a light into them.  It was kind of funny, to see her limping around yesterday, and randomly growling at the wall or a speck of lint on the floor. Cats.

PS: while we were in the waiting room, a young tomcat, who was getting fixed as well, started “singing” to Neko. How adorable! He also knew that it was his last chance to get any “pussy”.

Neko’s day is fast approaching…

Posted in meow meow on January 14, 2008 by Mitsu

So, the dreaded day is coming up…Neko’s getting spayed on Thursday. Poor kitteh doesn’t know what’s coming, but she will sense my nervousness after a bit. I have to take her in for 7:30am, then go to work, and leave early to pick her up. I’ll leave work around 2, but I’ll stay home and keep an eye on her. Oh well, it has to be done.

So, that’s about all the news I have for now…I won’t be posting much these days, but there will be a sad picture of poor Neko with her “cone” post-op.

Pic update!

This is my amigurumi shroom. It took me about 30 min. to make (crochet, stuffing and sewing). Isn’t it cute!

Here’s the long-awaited pic of Nezumi the mouse. She never sits still.

nezu_cup.jpgJust to get an idea of how small she is, this is a normal sized drinking glass. She will get bigger though.

Mice and nose piercings…

Posted in meow meow on January 8, 2008 by Mitsu

So, things have been fine for Nezumi last night. She didn’t try to escape at all ( I think the presence of a cat might have beeen a deterrent). She comes out of her little mushroom house, explores the cage and wheel, even though she’s still too tiny to make it spin, and plays around with the water dispenser. I think she looks really happy in there.

About my nose piercing, it’s been about a month now. It no longer bleeds, but you can bump up the number of times it’s been ripped out, to 6. The last 3 times, were all in my sleep. I’d just get woken up by a sharp pain to my nose, then I would stumble out of bed, half-asleep, with a nose stud dangling, to put it back in. Unfortunately, the surrounding area gets really swollen after this happens, but I’ve been able to put it in, after stretching the hole with a larger ear stud.

Anyways, that’s my little update…I definitely need to take some pics of Nezumi before she grows up!
